In contrast to the meet director’s usual ways, this time he put on a standard cross country orienteering event. A few days before, the weather forecast called for rain on the day of the meet, and there were several rainy days before the meet, but when the day actually arrived the weather was nice and there was no rain. Huron Meadows is a rather small area broken up by swamps and many trails, so it is difficult to set a really challenging course there. As a result, it was not surprising that most participants found the courses easier than usual and the course times were on the short side. Some people went out again after completing their course to try part of a more advanced course.
An especially big thank you to Suzanne Izzo for her extensive help with course setting and to Mary Joscelyn for her efficient handling of registration. Suzanne also gave beginner instruction and Roddy Wares helped with this too. Joe Burkhead, Mary Joscelyn, Mike Keating, Tom Lee, and Rick Waldo picked up the controls at the end. Thanks to all who helped with the meet.
